Today, December 1st, is World AIDS Day. Not a bad day to get informed about the worldwide AIDS crisis. I'm going to this event tonight in Philadelphia with a group of friends. Maybe you can find a place in your neck of the woods to learn about, pray for, and stand in solidarity with those living with and dying of AIDS in America and around the world.
AIDS has claimed more than 25 million lives worldwide
Another 40 million are estimated to be living with HIV/AIDS.
In the U.S., someone becomes infected with HIV every 13 minutes.
1 in 4 people infected with the virus in the U.S. are unaware of their HIV status.
An estimated 30, 000 people in the Philadelphia region are currently living with HIV.
There is still no cure for HIV / AIDS.
