It is official. I have a job. It has been a long and impatient road, but I have a job.
Throughout the search, I have tried to keep my hands open to whatever would come, and now, I have had a gift placed in my hands. I received a phone call in the middle of my FINAL exam of seminary. Did I walk out and take the call? You bet I did. Did I walk back into the exam with hands shaking? You bet I did.
As a result, for the next few years, I will be living and working at my alma mater, Whitworth, as a Resident Director (RD). Basically, it is a student development position, so I will be mentoring individual college students and teams, counseling, providing leadership development, discipline, programming, working on an RD team, and many other things. All of this is directed at participating in providing a holistic approach to the college experience.
It is a unique, fulfilling, and demanding position. I still plan to go into ordained ministry in the PC(USA) - God has clearly called me to that - but I sense this RD position as a part of my overall calling. I really sense it as the right fit for me, and trust that there are those "right fits" out there for all people.
It has been a long road, but I am truly grateful to God for this whole process. I have wanted this RD position for years, but never thought it would be a reality. If you haven't sensed it, I am excited to learn TONS from amazing college students and colleagues at Whitworth.
I'm glad I get to leave the first comment.
This IS indeed glorious news.
I can testify to the fact that Josh has wanted this job ever since he was my RA at Whitworth. And he is going to be amazing at it. I'm very happy for him.
Way to go bro!

Josh - I have no doubt that wherever you go and whatever you do, you will minister, regardless if it's an ordained position in the PCUSA. I wish you abundant blessings in your new job!

Yay Josh! That's so cool. The Whitworth kids are gonna love you. Do you know which dorm you'll be in yet?

Thanks for your encouragement and support, friends. I continue to be stinkin' excited.
I'll be the RD in Arend...the same dorm I lived in for 3 years in college. So, I'm going "home!"

Wow! You get to go back to Arend? They will definitely benefit from your wisdom and leadership. What a great placement!
