The Big Boy Apartment!

It feels so exciting to see my apartment come together! 

I worked hard all weekend, and things are being put in place.  I just went out and ordered my furniture (bed, couches, coffee table, etc) today, and it will arrive on Thursday!  My kitchen is pretty well set up, as is my bathroom.  My bedroom and the guest bedroom are coming along slowly but surely.  This thrifty guy is not used to spending money, so this has been a fun process. 

I will post pictures at the end of the week, AHK!

P.S. I had forgotten that Spokane is actually kind of beautiful.  Come and visit me!

Moving Day!

Today I move to Spokane!  After a great and busy summer at the parents' farm, it is finally time to move.  I am excited for this next chapter...

I am today’s “guest blogger” (after much begging, pleading, and cajoling)! I am also Josh’s Mom …

When I awoke this morning, my first thought was “today is Josh’s birthday!” and I thought back 29 years...

Imagine! July 26^th  was a dark, rainy day, full of thunder and lightning! I’d been on bed rest for the previous few days, so there I was in bed later in the day, with my 2 little girls when it dawned on me I was in labor.

We got to the hospital at 9 pm and at 10:09 pm, Joshua Scott Cleveland made his entrance into the world. Suffice it to say, Josh has been a blessing in every way to our family and, I’m sure to you, his friends.

May God’s grace continue to grow you abundantly in the coming years, Josh … Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to my Mom.

Today is a monumental (yet unspecified) birthday for my mom, who does not look her age.

She and I hung out for most of the day, got some errands done, watched Hairspray, got some ice cream, and laughed a whole lot.

I am grateful for that lady!  Happy Birthday Mom!

Patty Griffin at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle.

Beautiful old Patty and I have had a committed musical relationship for a good four years now, and I have seen her twice in concert.  Last night, I saw her and her wild red hair play a show at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle.  Outdoors.  On a huge lawn.  In the rain.  Really, it was glorious. 

She and I had a heart to heart before the show, so she played plenty of my favorite Patty songs.

Hey, I got my one concert in for the summer, and it was well worth it!  The five foot nothin' Patty continues to rank in my top five favorite musicians.  She's brilliant.

Out with the old, in with the new.

I.  Love.  My.  Rainbow.  Sandals.  Both old and new. Old ones have seen some rough territory over the past three years...I've worn them basically every day since I got them from the factory.  However, they were feeling (and looking) a little gross.  I'm willing to endure two weeks of pain while breaking the new ones in for years of glorious comfort to follow.  Seriously, they are the most comfortable sandals I have ever owned.  Any other Rainbow fans out there?

A Happy Mom.

My mom got this horse, Adara, a Bashkir Curly, a few years back.  Then, about a year and a half ago, before my parents bought their farm, she reluctantly decided to sell Adara to a breeder, hoping that she'd be able to have a foal.  In the sale, the contract said that if the new owners ever decided to sell Adara, my mom got first dibs. 

What do you know? Adara was not able to concieve, so my mom got a call earlier this summer, and boom...Adara is back in the family...even healthier and happier, too!  Needless to say, Momma Cleveland is ecstatic, looking out on the pastures, seeing her horse out there!

Love it. I bought Writer's Block by Peter Bjorn and John earlier this week on iTunes for $6.99.  It's been on repeat all week while working in the yard, on the tractor, all over the place!
